Aberdeen in salty Connor Barron Scotland move as Rangers star gets Pittodrie chop

It’s fair to say Scottish Premiership rivals Rangers and Aberdeen don’t exactly see eye-to-eye.

The Gers and the Dons maintain a fiery rivalry which stretches back to the 1980s and continues to the present day with Aberdeen currently above Rangers in the Scottish Premiership standings.

But with a long way to go this season, there can be no doubting the Dons’ place in the Scottish footballing food chain with Rangers better, bigger and more successful over the piece.

Rangers have also had a penchant for pinching Aberdeen’s best young players in the last few seasons with Ibrox eyes cast towards another Dons talent amid a court rumble involving Connor Barron.

And it’s the summer Rangers signing which is the subject of the latest run-in between the Gers and Aberdeen as the petty Pittodrie admin turns heads on social media.

Aberdeen still salty over Connor Barron switch

It’s fair to say Rangers’ move to sign Connor Barron from Aberdeen this summer didn’t go down well in Scotland’s northeast.

One of the Dons’ brightest prospects, Rangers snapped up Barron come the end of his contract and the 22-year-old from Kintore has gone on to cement himself in the Ibrox starting XI.

Barron turned down opportunities in England and Italy to join Rangers, with the switch riling Aberdeen fans.

Aberdeen too are refusing to budge when it comes to the development fee Rangers must agree for the Scotland hopeful’s talents.

Dons CEO Alan Burrows insists Aberdeen are ready to go to court over Connor Barron with Rangers seeing a £525k offer thrown out of the Pittodrie boardroom.

And now the salty sentiment towards Connor Barron has continued into Scotland duties as Aberdeen crop Connor Barron out of a photograph with their own Nicky Devlin.

Aberdeen cut Rangers star out of social media post

After Aberdeen shared an image of defender Nicky Devlin ‘on duty’ with his Scotland teammates, on first glance there is nothing to report.

But dig a little deeper and you find out that the Dons’ media team have cropped out former Aberdeen midfielder and Rangers star Connor Barron.

The original image has since been shared on social media and clearly shows the Aberdeen star stretching alongside his former teammate.

The petty post has turned heads online and Rangers fans will be hoping it all backfires in the weeks and months ahead this season.

After a rocky start to the campaign, Rangers find themselves nine points off Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic and Aberdeen with Philippe Clement under increasing pressure.
