Vaclav Cerny is under investigation by Police Scotland for allegedly spraying Celtic fans with water after Rangers scored a late winner at Parkhead.

The cheeky Czech winger, 27, appeared to burst past Celtic fans and splash them with water from a bottle as Rangers recorded a famous 3-2 victory at Celtic Park.

Barry Ferguson claims he never saw the Cerny incident come full-time but hurting Celtic fans have passive-aggressively focused on the moment in the wake of a second Old Firm defeat on the bounce.

The incident has made Cerny something of a cult hero amongst Rangers fans with Ally McCoist joking that the Rangers winger deserves a ‘knighthood’.

But Celtic and their supporters have not seen the funny side and appear to have gotten a little upset by the Ibrox winger’s antics.

With Cerny also facing a ban for the incident, Police Scotland have launched a probe whilst Celtic have also responded to complaints from angry supporters.

Who’d have thought the fire of the world-renowned Old Firm derby could be extinguished with a few harmless droplets of water?

Police Scotland probe Vaclav Cerny watergate scandal

Vaclav Cerny got a little bit excited after Hamza Igamane lashed in a late winner at Celtic Park.

The victory, which was almost five years in the making, has not gone down well at Parkhead with Celtic fans notoriously bad losers in the fixture.

Now, Sky News are reporting that Police Scotland have launched ‘enquiries’ as angry Celtic fans look to get some level of retribution after being largely played off the park by Rangers.

A spokesperson told the broadcaster: “Officers received information and enquiries are ongoing.”

With a two-week international break to come, we get a feeling the fall-out from this Old Firm derby victory is set to roll on a little while longer yet.

It won’t take the shine off the result however, with Rangers ‘outstanding’ in the first half at Celtic Park to lay the foundations for an impressive 3-2 victory.

Celtic – who have ‘raised concerns’ about the policing operation at the match – have also responded to the incident in a statement.

As quoted by the Celtic Way, a spokesperson said:

“With regards to the match at Celtic Park, we can also confirm that the Club has raised concerns regarding members of the away team engaging with Celtic supporters with the relevant authorities.”

Celtic fan goes into meltdown over Rangers hero

Interim Rangers manager Barry Ferguson has brought a bit of bite back to the Old Firm derby and it’s clear Celtic don’t like the behaviour of the Rangers players.

James Tavernier apologised live on Sky Sports after the Ibrox side’s celebrations spilled over in the dressing room, the club blasting music and the team partying.

Dujon Sterling also branded Celtic Park a ‘s*******’ in a controversial Instagram post which could land the ex-Chelsea defender in hot water.

The celebrations irked ex-Celtic star Alan Thompson and the Parkhead faithful are now looking for the authorities to apply a bit of aloe vera to help the soothe the burn of this latest Old Firm defeat.

It’s all a bit too much for one Celtic fan, who branded the Rangers team’s antics ‘embarrassing’ live on Clyde Superscoreboard.

”What a lowlife club that is for the way they celebrated that third goal,” said the supporter.

”For Cerny to be squeezing water all over people sitting in the crowd. How low can you get?

”That’s embarrassing. As a football club that really is embarrassing.”

Celtic fans and their outspoken former players can moan in the media and make headlines about Vaclav Cerny and ‘Watergate’ all they like.

It’s not going to change the fact their team was well beaten by the Gers on the day and that Rangers have regained a long-held Old Firm win record over their rivals.
