Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed that there have no further developments regarding a new contract for Connor Goldson at Ibrox.
The Gers vice-captain is out of contract in the summer and the situation surrounding the defender’s current deal has been something of a cloud over the campaign.
Largely, Rangers stalwart Connor Goldson has not let the contract drama hinder his performances and he has been a key player for the club over the piece.
But there have been rocky moments this season and given Goldson’s own comments about the situation potentially becoming a distraction it’s been an easy stick to beat him with.
As the season has bottlenecked and Rangers have found much better form, fans have began to relent somewhat regarding the situation and ex-Brighton defender Connor Goldson remains highly thought of within the club.
But whatever the case the situation is set to come to a head soon with some journalists already claiming that the player’s mind is made up.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst was asked about Goldson’s contract situation as he previewed the Europa League clash with RB Leipzig and the Ranger manager claimed it’s as you were.
“No news” regarding Connor Goldson Rangers contract
“There’s no news,” said van Bronckhorst [Rangers].
“We’re working in the last weeks of the season and we are fully focused on performing on the pitch so no new news.”
Van Bronckhorst has also previously insisted the contract situation will not hinder the Rangers star’s performances.
“I’ve never experienced in my coaching career when a player is out of contract that it affects them,” said Van Bronckhorst.

“It’s a circumstance that’s happening a lot. Connor is handling it really well.
“He’s performing well and it doesn’t have a negative influence on him and it definitely hasn’t had a negative influence on me.
“It’s just the way it is in football where you have to perform no matter what. Especially in a club the size of Rangers. He’s been doing that and winning games to bring success to this club.”
Meanwhile, the Rangers manager has also been providing an update amid rumours a key player won’t make the trip to Germany.
