Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has quashed rumours that Fashion Sakala will not be travelling to Germany to face RB Leipzig.

Much of the club’s hopes of qualification for the Final of the Europa League in Seville rest on the shoulders of the Zambian international after injuries to Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe.

Ahead of the game in Germany, there had been some talk regarding the absence of Fashion Sakala, potentially because of Covid-19 vaccination regulations in the European country.

But Giovanni van Bronckhorst has quashed any suggestion the pacey forward won’t be travelling to RB Leipzig as he provided an update on the Rangers squad.

There are no fresh injury concerns ahead of the game but a depleted Rangers side will have to survive without the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Ianis Hagi, Filip Helander and Aaron Ramsey.

“No, we are going with a big plane. A lot of player a lot of staff,” said van Bronckhorst [Rangers].

“No, he’s (Sakala) travelling.

“We have no fresh injuries, we have the squad available from Motherwell.

“Morelos and Roofe are not available and I have made my plans after watching the opponent playing.

“I will choose the right gameplan and we need the players to perform well.”

Fashion Sakala will travel with Rangers to Leipzig

With Rangers depleted in the forward areas, it’s the chance for Fashion Sakala to become a hero against RB Leipzig but there is some discussion around how we might line up in Germany.

With options limited and the club likely to play on the break, perhaps Rangers might go for pace with Fashion Sakala on the left, Ryan Kent in a false 9 and Scott Wright out on the right.

It remains to be seen but the good news is the Zambian international is in the squad and Rangers don’t have any fresh injury concerns ahead of the Europa League semi-final first leg.

Meanwhile, there has been a Rangers foot soldier boost as the club get a helping hand from a club of European allies.
