Rangers fans have seen the funny side after Hearts boss Craig Levein laughed off speculation that the Ibrox club wanted to sign full-back Aaron Hickey [Edinburgh Evening News].
The Jambos manager was quick to write off any move Rangers saying that talks are underway to keep the youngster on the Edinburgh side of the M8 for the foreseeable future.
But it’s not the writing a move for Hickey off which Gers fans have found funny, it’s more the sarcastic quip from Levein that Hearts are interested in signing Alfredo Morelos.
Levein was his trademark grumpy self when asked questions about those Rangers links to Hickey, and even suggested that this was all to unsettle Hickey before Rangers weekend tie with Hearts.
“Who do we play at the weekend? We’re going to put an offer in for [Alfredo] Morelos tomorrow,” said Craig Levein [Edinburgh Evening News].
“I’m taking that one with a lump of salt.
“I’m still working on [a new contract for Hickey]. I want to just try and get it done with his dad and then I’ll talk about it.”
The Rangers fans enjoyed his suggestion that he wants to take Colombian international Morelos to Tyencastle.
