Rangers are set to launch a £2m move for Hearts full-back wonderkid Aaron Hickey as Ross Wilson looks to make an early mark on this Rangers side, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun is claiming that Wilson will urge Rangers to shell out for the 17-year-old full-back who has burst onto the scene with the Jambos after a series of impressive performances.
According to the report, Wilson believes that Hickey is a “star in the making” and will urge the Ibrox side to invest in the youngster’s services.
A versatile defender who can play across the backline, Hickey was a stand-out in Hearts’ Scottish Cup final defeat to Celtic last season.
The youngster was also the hero of Tynecastle on derby day as he hit a deflected winner against Hibs at Easter Road. It remains Hearts’ only win of the domestic league season.
The report also claims that should Rangers move for Hickey, Celtic will be due a considerable 30% sell-on fee with the full-back having started his career at Parkhead.
But according to the Scottish Sun, Wilson is utterly convinced that a move for Hickey is the right one and now is the time to pounce given the youngster’s contract is currently due to expire in 2021.
Rangers are not the only side which has been linked with a move for Hickey either.
Premier League giants Manchester City and their boss Pep Guardiola have been said to be watching the youngster’s progress [Daily Mail].
There’s little doubt Hickey is a young player full of potential but is £2m a fair outlay for the youngster?
