Rangers Scottish Cup tie with Aberdeen was always going to be an exciting prospect.
In the four previous meetings between the sides this season, there’s been plenty of talking points. Red cards, goals and some enthralling competition on the pitch, it’s one of the country’s premier ties.
Today, Rangers simply must win to keep their dreams of silverware alive. And to ensure stopping Celtic’s run to the treble treble is in our hands.
Here’s the three players who’ll be vital to any progress to the Scottish Cup semi final.

Allan McGregor

The Rangers goalkeeper was right in the middle of things in the last tie against the two sides. Rangers won 4-2, there were two red cards and McGregor was retrospectively punished for a challenge on Lewis Ferguson. Much to the dismay of Rangers fans.
Let’s hope we don’t see too much of him today, but you can bet we’ll be able to rely on him should he be called upon.

James Tavernier

Rangers’ captain fantastic has always been an attacking threat, but this season he has become a much more well-rounded player. The side still play to his strengths and he’s a vital part of our side in the production and scoring of goals, but he’s more reliable at the back than ever. Ex-boss Mark Warburton described his delivery as world class in an interview with Open Goal.
If we’re to come out of Pittodrie with a Scottish Cup ticket to Hampden, he will have been central to it.

Alfredo Morelos

Rangers’ Buffalo Soldier is usually at the centre of everything against Aberdeen. He’s been sent off three times against the North East side this season, albeit one was rescinded. The Dons clearly feel he’s a player they can get to and wind up. Alfredo must keep his head and focus on the other side of his game.
We’ve already saw that against Aberdeen too – the Colombian hit a double in the 4-2 Rangers win last month. He clearly enjoys this fixture so let’s hope we see the best of him today.
With transfer talk never far away from Morelos, did a Rangers Director hint at how much the club value the striker at?
