Summer Rangers target Malik Tillman is set to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich before heading out on a loan with option-to-buy move to PSV Eindhoven.

That’s according to German journalist Kerry Hau, who works for German outlet SPORT1, with PSV Eindhoven having a substantial €15m (£13m) option-to-buy inserted into the deal.

According to Hau, Malik Tillman will sign on at Bayern Munich until 2026 with the attacking midfielder set to undergo a medical at potential Champions League foes PSV Eindhoven imminently.

Rangers boss Michael Beale was clear that the Ibrox side wanted to secure a permanent deal for the 21-year-old USA international but as the summer window progressed it became clear this was unlikely.

Malik Tillman spent last season on loan at Rangers with the Ibrox side initially having a widely-reported £5m option-to-buy inserted into the deal.

The reported £13m option inserted into the PSV Eindhoven loan deal shows how highly-rated Malik Tillman is by Bayern and it’s clear the Bundesliga champion’s hierarchy wanted to restructure the move.

Bayern to sign Malik Tillman contract as Rangers deal ripped up

Rangers were reportedly compensated to the tune of £1m for the deal, with a sell-on fee also inserted, as Bayern rip up the original arrangement and look to pen a new contract with Malik Tillman.

Worryingly, Rangers could now come up against Malik Tillman in the Champions League Playoff this season with PSV Eindhoven likely lying in wait should the Ibrox side overcome Servette.

PSV Eindhoven have just hammered Champions League QR3 opponents Sturm Graz 4-1 in the first leg of the tie and now have one leg firmly in the Playoff round.

As Malik Tillman prepares to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich before heading out on loan to PSV, Rangers can reflect on the progress the player made at Ibrox last season.

Scoring 12 goals across the campaign for the Gers, the attacking midfielder also picked up the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award and big things are expected of Malik Tillman in the world game.
