Leading broadcaster Sky Sports have provided some details on Rangers’ seemingly imminent double move for South American duo Danilo and Jose Cifuentes.
In their latest report, Sky Sports claim that Rangers are set to pay an initial £5.2m to take striker Danilo from Feyenoord after a summer of negotiations.
Another £800k has been agreed as part of the deal, with Feyenoord accepting a bid with a series of achievable add-ons inserted into the deal.
The report claims that personal terms are “not expected to be an issue” with the route now cleared for the 24-year-old former Ajax striker to make the switch to Glasgow.
As well as confirming the situation around Danilo, Sky Sports have also claimed that Rangers are preparing to welcome Jose Cifuentes to Ibrox
Reports coming out of the US yesterday revealed that a deal had been struck between Rangers and LAFC for the transfer of Jose Cifuentes, the Ecuadorean having already agreed a pre-contract at Ibrox.
Claiming that the move is “edging closer”, Sky Sports reckon both Danilo and Jose Cifuentes are now Rangers bound and the moves represent a substantial backing of Michael Beale from the Ibrox board.
Sky Sports £5.2m Rangers claims a statement of intent
The initial £5.2m spent on Danilo comes amid a summer of spending at Rangers with the club’s fans finally get a long-awaited rebuild which they have craved.
The Gers have already splashed out a reported £3.5m to bring Sam Lammers to the club from Atalanta, whilst a deal to bring Cyriel Dessers to Ibrox is said to be in the region of £4.5m.
That’s around £13m on the a new frontline and it’s spending which hasn’t been seen at the club since the day’s of Dick Advocaat and his Dutch revolution.
Interestingly, all three of these players have a touch of Dutch about them with Lammers coming from the Netherlands, Dessers having played there extensively and Danilo pledging his international allegiances to the country.
As for Jose Cifuentes, Rangers will reportedly pay between £1m and £2m for the midfielder and given his World Cup and Premier League-linked pedigree, it could prove a bargain.
