Ex-Rangers striker Kris Boyd has told Sky Sports that Ibrox striker Cyriel Dessers must start “doing better” after his latest miss.
In quotes attributed to the broadcaster, Kris Boyd was talking after Cyriel Dessers failed to convert yet another chance after breaking through on goal against St Mirren.
With the 28-year-old hitman desperately low on confidence Kris Boyd has claimed the striker has to start doing better with the club needing to appoint a new manager ASAP.
“There was an energy about Rangers (in the win over St Mirren), especially the young boys,” Kris Boyd said.
“If you’re being critical, then you’re looking for more from your number nine. Kemar Roofe only had four touches in the first half and one of them was at kick-off. [Cyriel] Dessers comes on and wastes another golden opportunity – he’s got to be doing better.
“Rangers need someone in now. Yes, there was a reaction today but there is now a two-week break and Rangers need to get someone as soon as possible to give them time to work with the players.”

Kris Boyd lambasts wasteful Cyriel Dessers
Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers was dropped for the eventual 3-0 victory over St Mirren with teenage striker Zak Lovelace given the nod instead.
With the 17-year-old forcing the handball penalty which allowed James Tavernier to give the side the lead, fans would’ve been forgiven for thinking Steven Davis would turn to Cyriel Dessers after Lovelace picked up an injury.
However, the Northern Irish man turned to fellow Ulsterman Ross McAusland instead leaving both Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers looking bemused on the bench.

Subbed on later in the match, Kris Boyd has criticised Cyriel Dessers for a poor finish in the match after breaking through on goal and tamely firing the ball at impressive St Mirren goalie Zach Hemming.
Whilst Rangers would go on to win the game 3-0, Cyriel Dessers once again missed a golden opportunity to get back on the scoresheet with the summer signing scoring only three goals in 15 appearances for the Gers.
