Rangers have sent an emphatic message to out of form striker Cyriel Dessers as Zak Lovelace comes into the team v Saint Mirren.
The 28-year-old Belgian-born Nigerian international signed on a reported £4.5m deal from Cremonese in the summer but has done little to repay the fee.
Now, Cyriel Dessers has been dropped to the bench for the clash with Saint Mirren in Paisley with young Rangers talent Zak Lovelace handed a huge chance.
The England youth international might only be 17-years-old but big things are expected of the kid.
Signed as a 16-year-old from Millwall, if Zak Lovelace can come in and impress v Saint Mirren then he’ll give any incoming Rangers boss plenty to think about over the international break.

Rangers drop Cyriel Dessers v Saint Mirren
It’s a big decision from Steven Davis and you’ve got to give it to the Rangers manager for making this Cyriel Dessers call.
It hasn’t happened so far for the big striker in Glasgow and there are major doubts that it ever will with Rangers and Michael Beale’s summer spending thoroughly under the microscope.
Cyriel Dessers also isn’t the only player dropped from the midweek shambles away to Aris Limassol with centre-back Ben Davies and out of form Sam Lammers coming out for John Souttar and Kemar Roofe.
As Rangers’ hunt for a new manager continues, the likes of Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers will know they are running out of time to impress.

As they’re dropped for the trip to face form Premiership side Saint Mirren, it’s telling that Steven Davis trusts a teenager more than this pair of Rangers flops to go out and close the ten point gap with Celtic.
Rangers have already lost to to Kilmarnock (A), Celtic (H) and Aberdeen (H) with any more dropped points set to turn the heat up on a squad many have already turned their backs on.
