Sky Sports presenter Eilidh Barbour appears to have dispelled rumours concerning former Rangers star Kris Boyd with a tweet on Sunday morning.

Boyd has attracted plenty of attention through his work for Sky Sports this season.

Rangers fans have often praised the former Ibrox striker for his comments on punditry duty for the broadcaster, with jibes at Celtic seemingly never far away.

In contrast, Celtic fans have responded negatively to Boyd’s work, with a petition launched in an attempt to have him removed from the coverage of all Celtic matches that aren’t against either Rangers or Kilmarnock.

Rumours began to circulate earlier this month that Sky Sports had acted following the backlash and the former Ger was absent for Celtic’s away clashes against St Mirren and St Johnstone, both of which were shown by the broadcaster.

The Daily Record reported that Boyd’s absence wasn’t related to the petition, though, and Eilidh Barbour appears to have dispelled the rumours once and for all.

She tweeted on Sunday morning suggesting that Boyd would be joining her at Dingwall on Sunday night to cover Ross County vs Celtic.

It’s a decision that’s unlikely to go down well with Hoops supporters, but Bears will no doubt be pleased that Sky Sports haven’t bowed to fan pressure.

Rangers take on Dundee United at Ibrox at 3pm on Sunday afternoon and a victory would stretch their lead at the top of the table to 18 points before Celtic’s assignment in the Highlands.
