Trio of changes as injuries bite in Rangers predicted XI v Dundee United

Rangers are preparing to welcome Scottish Premiership rivals Dundee United to Ibrox this weekend with the club still rocking from that 4-3 midweek win in Antwerp.

The Gers will take an advantage into the second leg of their Europa League Round of 32 tie with the Great Old at Ibrox but Steven Gerrard’s side must park the tie for the visit of the Arabs.

Dundee United will be hoping to pull Rangers back down to Earth with a bang at Ibrox and having won their last two Scottish Premiership matches face the Gers on a decent run of form.

Rangers have been dramatically impacted by injuries to two key players from the Royal Antwerp match with captain James Tavernier and striker Kemar Roofe awaiting the outcome of scans.

Tavernier’s situation is made more difficult by the absence of Rangers kid Nathan Patterson, who is currently self-isolating and who is likely to face a ban for Covid-19 breaches.

Roofe would have missed this match anyway through suspension but the Gers are boosted by the return of striker Alfredo Morelos, who comes back into the squad following a ban of his own.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard also alluded to star men Ryan Kent and Ryan Jack starting on the bench v Antwerp to keep them fresh for this match [Rangers] which suggests they could be in line for a recall.

Defender Jack Simpson is also yet to make his first-team debut for Rangers but with resources stretched amid injuries and isolations this could be the game where we get a first glimpse at the defender.

Rangers are closing in on a historic 55th league title with the club knowing four wins is all it will take to be crowned Champions.

We expect the Gers lineup to reflect this with a strong team put out to compete with the Arabs who will be coming to take something from Ibrox.

We predict Leon Balogun to come in for James Tavernier, Ryan Jack for Glen Kamara and £7m man Ryan Kent for Kemar Roofe in three changes for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Whilst the Ibrox club are not without their options for this tie, the club’s fans have railed against one player who misses out on a huge chance in the coming weeks through his own stupidity.
