Alfredo Morelos is arguably the most controversial character in the Scottish game at present, but one leading pundit is adamant the player deserves more respect.
Spurred on by the well-received Soy Alfredo feature, Gary Ralston praised the player’s application off the pitch. And his desire on it.

He even went as far as to say that Alfredo Morelos has “enriched our game”. It’s a refreshing take and one which Rangers fans feel should be put forward more often.
The pundit then goes on to suggest that Alfredo Morelos would be loved in Scotland if he were Scottish. That’s a sentiment that results in many Rangers fans feeling that some of the abuse Morelos receives has bordered on racist.
Morelos is routinely derided by opposition supporters and unfairly treated in the press. Some of the more unscrupulous types have attacked the player’s character.
There’s a general feeling that Alfredo is painted out to be something he is not. That his abrasive, combative, aggressive style on the pitch is reflected off of it.

What Soy Alfredo shows is that it’s actually the opposite. Alfredo is a grounded, determined and proud individual, desperate to achieve for his family.
And it’s great to see pundits who’ve been so quick to criticise him now realise it. Gary Ralston is right. He does deserve more respect.
