Scott Arfield was on BBC Scotland Scottish Cup commentary duties as Rangers hammered Fraserburgh at Ibrox.
And the former Rangers midfielder couldn’t help but heap praise on one player who is reportedly attracting interest across the fields of Europe.
Cyriel Dessers might not be everyone’s cup of tea at Rangers but the Ibrox number nine proved his finishing prowess with an impressive hat-trick in the 5-0 Scottish Cup rout.
And for the big striker’s goals and goals alone, Scott Arfield reckons there will be plenty of interest in Cyriel Dessers if Rangers seriously want to move the hitman on.
Scott Arfield hails Cyriel Dessers
Cyriel Dessers took his tally for the season to 16 goals as his hat-trick helped Rangers to a 5-0 Scottish Cup victory over Fraserburgh.
The treble comes after Dessers netted an impressive solo goal against Aberdeen in the week and amid plenty of transfer speculation surrounding the hitman.
Cyriel Dessers himself admitted he could leave Rangers with interest in the striker credited in France, Spain and Italy.
Speaking at half-time in BBC Scotland’s live coverage of Rangers’ win over Fraserburgh, Scott Arfield branded Cyriel Dessers an ‘enigma’ who ‘possesses something that people want’.
“The fact that he keeps scoring goals it puts him name in the conversation,” Arfield said.
”For good and bad. He’s a bit of an enigma in these parts. People love him, people can’t quite take to him.
“He’s went from the first choice number to the third since Igamane’s vein of form and Danilo coming back from injury.
”As long as he keeps doing this. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing against.
”His name will be in conversations all around Europe because he definitely possesses something that people want.
”Whether he stays here past this in the next two weeks I’m not quite sure.
”But if he does then fair play to him.
”He’ll stick it out for another six months and he’ll score another five, six, seven, eight, ten goals, no doubt about it.”

Rangers striker compared to Alfredo Morelos
As Cyriel Dessers rounded the Fraserburgh goalkeeper to slot home his hat-trick in injury time, the Rangers striker had adorned the Ibrox captain’s armband.
It’s symbolic of Cyriel’s role at Rangers with the 30-year-old amongst the most experienced player’s in Philippe Clement’s young squad.
Scott Arfield reckons Cyriel Dessers is a ‘good teammate’ and compared the hitman to the one and only Alfredo Morelos, who played with Scotty Arf at Ibrox.
”Top goalscorer at Rangers this season,” Arfield told BBC Sport.
”He comes across very likeable, very relatable, loveable. He looks like a good teammate.
”Any good striker that misses a chance, they don’t care. They’ve got this selfishness.
”But he does look like he goes back for more and that’s what you want.
”I played with Alfredo Morelos, and sometimes Alfredo, one because his English wasn’t great, but he genuinely didn’t care how bad he was.
”It was his greatest attribute because he just went back for more.”
