Rangers have progressed to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup with a thumping victory over Highland League Fraserburgh at Ibrox.

The Gers ran out comfortable 5-0 winners in Glasgow but the game was still very much in the balance with Rangers only 1-0 up at half-time.

A hat-trick from Cyriel Dessers and goals from Clinton Nsiala and Ross McCausland secured Scottish Cup victory for Rangers in Glasgow.

Here’s how the Rangers players rated as a spirited Fraserburgh were put to the sword in Govan.

Rangers player rating v Fraserburgh

Mason Munn – 6

Mason Munn was handed a Rangers debut and the highly-rated 18-year-old goalkeeper had a comfortable enough afternoon.

Almost slipped up with a first half clearance and would’ve been relieved to see the ball roll past the post after going through his legs.

Made amends by going in bravely later in the game and taking a knock to the head but this was a lesson in concentration at Ibrox.

James Tavernier – 7

Returned to the Rangers starting XI at right-back and delivered the corner which allowed Cyriel Dessers to open the scoring at Ibrox.

An energetic and experienced presence, Tavernier also hit the bar with a rasping effort in the first half and was routinely popping up in the Fraserburgh box.

Good to see the skipper back.

Robin Propper – 7

Robin Propper absolutely strolled this clash at Ibrox and got some welcome minutes ahead of the trip to Manchester United.

A composed presence who read the ball very well throughout the first half, Propper commanded the Gers backline and laid the foundation for victory.

Clinton Nsiala – 8

Young French defender Clinton Nsiala has been warned to keep his feet on the ground by Philippe Clement as the 20-year-old continues to impress.

Another comfortable display defensively, Nsiala was once again expressive in his passing and was influential in the first half.

Topped off another impressive performance with his first professional goal, lashing in a deflected left-foot effort ten minutes into the second period.

Jefte – 8

Brazilian left-back Jefte is playing so well at the moment that Philippe Clement cannot leave him out of the Rangers XI.

Found space time and again down the left-hand side and sometimes just lacked the crucial final ball into a compact Fraserburgh area.

Unlucky not to score his first Rangers goal when a low effort was tipped onto the post and was a constant threat at Ibrox.

Connor Barron – 6

With the majority of the game being played in front of him, this was a match Connor Barron was expected to start at Ibrox.

Has dropped out of the starting XI as of late and had a comfortable if not dominant game in the middle of the pitch.

Rangers lacked tempo in the first-half and part of that stems from the middle of the pitch with a stiffness about the Gers in the first period.

Mohamed Diomande – 6

Another who barely broke a sweat in the match, Mohamed Diomande had a comfortable game in the middle of the park.

Like Connor Barron, lacked enthusiasm to get onto the end of things in and around the box but barely put a foot wrong.

Taken off later in the match but will have more influential games.

Nedim Bajrami – 7

Given the nod in the number ten position over Ianis Hagi and had an impressive first 45 at Ibrox.

Has real genuine creative quality and is always looking for a creative through pass but sometimes looks for a ball when it might be better to shoot or show more composure.

Laid off Nsiala for the second goal and has real matchwinning quality, but Nedim needs to be more decisive and ruthless.

Ross McCausland – 8

Ross McCausland broke through at Rangers last season but this campaign has found chances harder to come by.

Given an opportunity to impress at Ibrox and was heavily involved against Fraserburgh throughout the match.

The young Northern Irishman found space and took players on but often struggled with the final pass or shot.

Deserved his goal at the back post and has a real workmanlike quality combined with technical ability.

Zak Lovelace – 7

Zak Lovelace was given the opportunity to impress off the left at Ibrox and took up some excellent positions in the first half.

Looks to have added an extra physicality to his game and dominated the left hand side of the pitch for Rangers in the first period.

Curled an effort wide and never stopped running, but the Lovelace’s influence waned as the game wore on.

Cyriel Dessers – 9

Cyriel Dessers fluffed an early chance that looked easier to score and then went on to hit a hat-trick and lay on assist in a 5-0 win.

Wound up with the captain’s armband at the end of the game to put the cherry on top of a superb treble which sends a message about the striker’s ruthlessness.

A commanding display with the Rangers number nine now on 16 goals for the season.

Substitutions:

Ridvan Yilmaz – 5: Came off the bench and showed some good link-up at right-back and got into good positions offensively.

Bailey Rice – 7: There’s a lot of hype around the young midfielder and Bailey Rice impressed off the bench. Finds space and always wants the ball. Forced the goalkeeper into a save and rasped a shot just wide.

Finlay Curtis – 7: Finlay Curtis came off the bench for his Rangers debut and had a big impact on the match. Finds space and makes creative passes, Curtis also had an effort saved and burst a lung to be involved in every offensive action. Has talent.

Ianis Hagi – 5: Showed quality, experience and composure on the ball as the game progressed.

Leon King – N/A: Replaced James Tavernier for the final five minutes.
