Rangers fans are waiting on an update as Ecuadorean target Jose Cifuentes potentially plays his final game for LAFC in an MLS draw against Minnesota.
The 24-year-old World Cup star played the entire match for the Californian club as they played out a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Field in St Paul.
Mexican striker Carlos Vela had given LAFC the lead after 21 minutes before the goal was cancelled out only four minutes later by a goal from Argentine midfielder Emanuel Reynoso.
The MLS season now breaks for one month ahead of the North American Leagues Cup where the teams from the American top division and those from Mexico’s Liga MX compete for the trophy.
For Rangers fans monitoring the links to Jose Cifuentes, they will be hoping that this break presents an opportunity for the Gers to strike a deal with LAFC for the Ecuadorean’s permanent transfer.
If this is to be the case, then the 1-1 draw with Minnesota will be Jose Cifuentes’ final game for the MLS club and comes after the Ecuadorean stole the show in what was potentially his final home game for the club during the week.
Rangers still negotiating with LAFC over Jose Cifuentes
According to leading Ibrox fan media Heart & Hand, Rangers have already “agreed terms” in principle with Jose Cifuentes with the midfielder now in the final six months of his contract.
What is happening now is that Rangers are trying to negotiate the player a transfer to Scotland in this window as the club look to bolster their midfield ahead of the new season.
Potentially the marquee signing of the summer, given extensive links to the Premier League in recent seasons, LAFC appear to be playing hardball with their midfielder.

Those Heart & Hand reports [Daily Update 10/07] claim Rangers want to pay around £1m for Jose Cifuentes, with LAFC holding out for closer to £2m, and that both clubs are expected to find a compromise.
With a break in play in the MLS season, Rangers fans are now waiting on a more solid update regarding the midfielder who has been at the centre of this summer’s longest-running Ibrox transfer saga.
