Jose Cifuentes scores a goal and lays on a stunning scissor kick assist as current club LAFC roar back to MLS form against St Louis amid reports Rangers have “agreed terms” with the midfielder.

The 24-year-old Ecuadorean international started the clash for the Californian club and had the final say in the match, rolling the ball home with his left foot to make it 3-0 and secure three points for his side.

But the goal came after Jose Cifuentes had already laid on a stylish scissor kick assist for Mexican forward Carlos Vela, who latched on to the Ecuadorean’s over the top through ball to finish with aplomb into the top corner.

Between both goals, Croatian attacker Stipe Buik put LAFC 2-0 up with a fine finish after a neatly rolled through ball for once Rangers-linked forward Denis Bouanga.

The victory over St Louis stopped the rot of four straight MLS matches without a win for LAFC and puts the club 2nd in the Western Conference, two points off the team they’ve just beaten at the top.

Jose Cifuentes excites Rangers fans with goal and assist

Rangers fans who’ve been watching the situation with Jose Cifuentes all summer long will have one eye on the Ecuadorean’s performance tonight, the stunning goal and scissor kick assist perhaps a sign of what’s to come at Ibrox next season.

The midfielder’s presence in the LAFC line-up suggests that there is still some way to go between Rangers and the MLS side when it comes to striking a deal for Cifuentes.

But the latest claims from Heart & Hand are that Rangers have “agreed terms” with the Ecuadorean, who is now in the final six months of his contract.

From here it’s about agreeing a deal with LAFC who remain an obstacle to the summer signing with the Americans reportedly demanding up to £2m to strike a transfer move this summer.

Rangers are said to be holding firm on their own valuation of £1m, but with this scissor kick assist and goal combo Jose Cifuentes is showing why several clubs in the Premier League have been linked in the past.

Perhaps Rangers are just waiting to get a forthcoming MLS break, which represents the perfect opportunity for LAFC, Jose Cifuentes and the Ibrox side to finally strike a deal.
