Rangers fans have responded on social media after the Gers starting XI was confirmed for Wednesday night’s Premiership clash against Hibernian.

The Light Blues are in Edinburgh seeking revenge for the 3-1 defeat inflicted by this opposition in a Premier Sports Cup semi-final at Hampden Park last month.

It’s just Gio van Bronckhorst’s third game in charge but confidence should be high within the group after wins over Sparta Prague and Livingston.

Hibs have a number of first-team players unavailable but they do carry some momentum into the game after ending a run of five consecutive league defeats with a comeback win over St Johnstone at the weekend.

GvB wasn’t expected to make many changes to the XI that started at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Sunday and in the end, he’s made just one.

Allan McGregor retains his place between the sticks, while the back four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Calvin Bassey and Borna Barisic remains the same.

The one change comes in midfield, with Scott Arfield making way for Steven Davis, who joins Glen Kamara.

Ahead of them are Ianis Hagi, Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent, who will support main striker Alfredo Morelos.

Kemar Roofe is fit enough to make the bench following injury.

Will this side be strong enough to take all three points in Leith?

Plenty of fans aren’t happy with the decision to take Arfield out of the side after his fine goal and strong overall display at Livi.

Here’s a selection of reactions from social media:

Meanwhile, Rangers are reportedly keen on a Premier League club’s starlet but face competition from Celtic and other English clubs to land him.
