In a big boost for Rangers, Hibernian are set to be without five first-team players for the Premiership fixture between the two sides at Easter Road on Wednesday night.

The Gers are travelling to the capital seeking revenge after their 3-1 Premier Sports Cup semi-final defeat last month.

Hibs’ league form has been poor either side of that win but they did return to winning ways at the weekend, coming from behind to beat St Johnstone thanks to a former Rangers winger.

Martin Boyle is back available after serving a one-match suspension, but Jack Ross certainly doesn’t have a full squad to pick from.

Dangerous forward Christian Doidge misses out through suspension and four others aren’t available due to fitness issues.

According to Hibs’ own match preview, Sweden international Melker Hallberg, left-back Sean Mackie and winger Daniel McKay all need match practice before they can be considered for Premiership duty after long spells out, while influential midfielder Kyle Magennis is nursing an injury.

Hibs have only won once in the Premiership all season without Magennis, so his absence is a particularly significant boost for the Gers.

Going into the game, Rangers have a four-point lead at the top of the table while their opponents are 15 points back in sixth with a game in hand.

Here’s our Rangers Predicted XI for the match.
