Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos wanted by Crystal Palace - report

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is a £20m transfer target for Premier League high-flyers Crystal Palace, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun are claiming that the 6th placed side, managed by former England boss Roy Hodgson, are plotting a move for Morelos come January.

They also claim that ex-Scotland star and Palace’s Sporting Director Dougie Freedman travelled north to watch Morelos score as Rangers laboured to a 1-1 draw with Hearts.

The report claims that Freedman “wanted to see the 23-year-old Colombian for himself” before deciding on making a move in the January window.

The report also backs up earlier claims that Aston Villa are also interested in signing the South American forward [Football Insider].

Villa boss Dean Smith told reporters to “watch this space” [Scottish Sun] when he was asked about the alleged interest in Rangers’ 15-goal striker.

However, the Scottish Sun claim that Rangers will not welcome any bids for their star man in the January window with Steven Gerrard seeing Morelos as pivotal to Rangers’ title challenge.

That would suggest there might be something in those reports that claim Dave King will be demanding more than the £20m Morelos had previously been valued at [Football Insider].

Morelos’ rampant form for Rangers has routinely attracted interest from across Europe with the Premier League thought to be the striker’s favoured destination.

Morelos reiterated that he “admires” the competition whilst on international duty with Colombia.
