Rangers star Greg Docherty was recently made the subject of controversial transfer links to Scottish Premiership outfit Hibs.
The Gers midfielder, who’s currently on-loan at Shrewsbury, was originally linked with a move to the capital by the Scottish Sun.
But the player himself has come out with strong comments suggesting he isn’t planning on moving to Edinburgh. In fact, he isn’t planning on going anywhere.
“My number one aim is still to go back to Rangers and be a success,” said Docherty, as quoted by BBC Scotland. “I signed for them for a reason – because I want to play for Rangers.
“This summer I’ll try to control all I can, give my all and show I want to be there for a long time. I’m going back to give it a right go.”

Docherty has been on superb form for Shrewsbury this season, hitting ten goals and laying on a further eleven.
Despite enjoying a successful season, the talented midfielder and Rangers fan has always been open about his desire to make it at Ibrox [originally Evening Times]. These latest comments merely reiterate that.
They also cold water on those tenuous links to Hibs. Rangers fans would potentially view any move as controversial after difficult transfer dealings with the Easter Road club in recent seasons.
As for the player himself, what kind of player will Rangers be getting back in the summer? Docherty thinks a much better one.
“I feel the whole thing has benefited me massively. I don’t think I could’ve made more of the opportunity,” said Docherty.
“I’ve matured and I actually feel like I’m a different player to the one who came down in the summer,”
There can’t be a Rangers fan out there who doesn’t want this likeable young player to succeed at Ibrox. Let’s hope he makes an impact next season.
