Former Man United starlet Charlie McCann trained at Ibrox on Thursday with a permanent move to the Rangers first-team group appearing to move closer.
McCann joined the Gers from the Red Devils in July on a three-year deal.
The transfer generated plenty of excitement, even though Steven Gerrard made it clear that the 19-year-old was a B team signing who could potentially progress to the senior squad down the line.
Encouragingly, it’s been a productive first few months in Glasgow for the young midfielder.
McCann made an instant impact for David McCallum’s B team, running games from midfield with help from the likes of Charlie Lindsay and Alex Lowry.
He also impressed in the Young Gers’ SPFL Trust Trophy win over Dumbarton, earning a spot in the competition’s Team of the Round.

Crucially, those early standout displays have led to increasingly frequent opportunities to show Gerrard what he can do.
McCann was spotted training with the first team late last month ahead of the Europa League clash against Sparta Prague and then, the international break worked in his favour.
Earlier this week, with a host of established players away playing for their respective nations, the non-international B team players were given the chance to train with what remained of the first-team squad.
McCann clearly stood out from the rest, as he looked to be the only youngster who stayed with the group for Thursday’s MyGers open training session at Ibrox.
His case was likely helped by a relative shortage of midfielders for the session. Ryan Jack and Nnamdi Ofoborh are sidelined and both Steven Davis and Glen Kamara were being given time to recover fully from their international exertions.
However, McCann certainly doesn’t look out of place physically and it would appear that he’s edging closer to a permanent graduation to the first-team group.
Meanwhile, a key player was a noticeable absentee from Thursday’s session at Ibrox.
