Rangers star Kemar Roofe may have already played his final game for the club in an ominous injury update from Philippe Clement.
The Jamaican international striker, 31, has seen his Ibrox career devastated by injury and in the fourth and final year of his Rangers contract it could now be curtains for the striker.
Speaking about the club’s injury situation during the warm weather Rangers training camp in Spain, Philippe Clement explained that both Kemar Roofe and Danilo could be out for up to three months.
Asked whether both players would play again this season, the Rangers manager told journalists to ask him again in eight to twelve weeks with both players looking at lengthy lay-offs.
Philippe Clement in ominous Kemar Roofe soundbites
Rangers had a number of absences for both the training camp and the weekend’s friendly defeat to Hertha Berlin.
This was a talking point for journalists who were in Spain after the game and when it comes to Kemar Roofe specifically, the prognosis was not great.
“Danilo and Kemar (Roofe) are not here so that’s clear it’s not for the next couple of weeks,” said Clement. “Otherwise they would be here.
“This season? The season is still a long way to go eh? So ask me this question in two or three months, so that’s a little bit early.”
It means that Kemar Roofe is looking at yet another extended absence with the 31-year-old potentially playing his last game for Rangers.
Having came back from yet another injury problem earlier in the season, Kemar Roofe was subbed off 16 minutes into the 2-0 win over St Johnstone in December.
That moment threatens to be his final minutes in a Rangers jersey in what has been a devastating run of injuries at Ibrox.
Philippe Clement has previously spoken about the sensitivity of the issue with Kemar Roofe’s injury issues and it certainly appears like the forward is up against it.
Injury has cost Rangers striker heroic Ibrox legacy
Having cost Rangers £4.5m in 2020 and being one of the club’s highest earners, the situation has also been devastating to the club.
Rangers could’ve used the influence of the lethal hitman – whose 38 goals for the club have come at a rate of a strike every 145 minutes or so – at several points over his Ibrox tenure.
There have been some huge moments in his Rangers career; the goal v Braga, a double v Celtic, and the League Cup semi-final winner v Aberdeen last season standing out.
Even this season the forward has contributed, scoring the winner in that 3-2 victory over Real Betis to secure Europa League progression.

There’s an argument here that Kemar Roofe has paid back the transfer fees with big goals but his time at Rangers will always be tinged with disappointment.
Out of contract at the end of the season, the striker’s injury record pretty much guarantees he will not be offered a new deal so unless Roofe can get fit between now and May his Rangers career might’ve already ended.
But don’t bet against him following in the footsteps of fellow Ibrox crock Filip Helander in miraculously recovering once he leaves the club.
No harm to either player – it’s just our luck!
