Rangers fixture list hasn’t been kind for whoever takes over as manager with a trip to Rugby Park up next.
A notoriously difficult place to go to for almost every Rangers manager in recent years, but there could be a new man in charge to face Derek McInnes in the opposite dugout.
According to respected Belgian journalist Sacha Tovolieri, current Rangers assistant boss Issame Charai is in line for a quick promotion.

Issame Charai tipped to be next Rangers manager, for now
Writing on X, Tovolieri has reported that Charai, who was headhunted by Chelsea, will be the man to take charge, for now, at least:
“Issame Charai now set to take the ad-interim coach role after Philippe Clement’s departure and will take the training back this Monday. Rangers counts on Charai.”
Rangers have announced Clement’s departure but, as yet, there has been nothing on his replacement or the rest of the coaching staff.
With the next game on the horizon, a decision needs to be made and a press conference will need to be held.
What has Charai said about becoming a manager?
There was a feeling when Rangers appointed an assistant manager who has tasted success as a manager that there was, for once, an element of forward planning at work.
Something that carries even more weight when you consider comments that Charai made about becoming a manager:
“Belgium is the country where I was trained as a player and later also as a coach,” the former RC Strasbourg assistant manager said of his formative years.
“I have worked there for the past ten years and know the competition very well.
“That is why I would like to work there as a head coach at the highest level.
“I have spoken to some nice clubs in Morocco, but it never felt quite right to actually sign there.”
Patrick Stewart might want to appoint a sporting director first, however, if Charai does the unthinkable and wins the Europa League, his dream might just come true.
