Rangers have officially parted company with manager Philippe Clement.
The Belgian manager, 51, looked destined to be relieved of his duties at Ibrox after the weekend’s abysmal 2-0 defeat to St Mirren.
Widespread reporting had confirmed Clement’s exit earlier in the day but this is the first time Rangers have communicated over the manager’s situation.
Rangers will now step up their hunt for a replacement with Clement the club’s fourth manager in as many years.
Rangers statement on Philippe Clement departure
Rangers have confirmed the departure of Philippe Clement after a disastrous domestic season at Ibrox.
In a statement to supporters, Rangers offered Clement ‘sincere thanks’ for his services and teased a further update in ‘due course’.
”Rangers Football Club can confirm it has tonight parted company with men’s first-team manager, Philippe Clement,” reads the statement.
“The club would like to put on record their sincere thanks to Philippe for his hard work and dedication during his spell in charge.
“A further update from the club will follow in due course.”
Who next for Rangers manager?
Attentions will now turn to who Rangers choose to replace Philippe Clement at Ibrox.
There are more than ten names in the running to become Rangers manager but two of those appear the stand out candidates
Rangers have reportedly held talks over an extraordinary return for ex-manager Steven Gerrard.
Rangers are said to be ‘in talks’ with the Ibrox board already making Gerrard their ‘preferred’ candidate.

Former Everton manager Sean Dyche is another potential option with whom the Rangers hierarchy are reportedly in discussions.
Philippe Clement leaves Rangers with last season’s League Cup the Belgian’s only domestic trophy out of six.
After overseeing a tumultuous summer at Rangers, Clement has failed to steady the ship with the manager paying the price for poor results in the Scottish Premiership and a penalty kicks defeat in this season’s League Cup Final.
Despite finishing in the top eight of the Europa League, any good work Clement had done in Europe was undone by the 1-0 Scottish Cup defeat to Queen’s Park at Ibrox.
