Birmingham City have released Greg Stewart from his contract at St. Andrews, and the Herald is reporting that Rangers “look set to clinch” a deal for the player.
In one of the worst kept transfer secrets since Jake Hastie, it looks like this signing could be completed soon. Although we can’t confirm anything until it is over the line.
The Herald report is the latest to suggest Stewart is edging closer to a move to Ibrox. A report by the Daily Record claims a three-year deal is already done and dusted.

The fact that Stewart is currently on-loan at Aberdeen might have something to do with the lack of an announcement.
Rangers aren’t exactly the most popular amongst our North Eastern cousins, and you get the feeling Pittodrie would revolt against him if any party announced the deal. It makes sense to wait until the final round of fixtures is out the way this weekend.
Should Stewart, who spent the first half of the season on-loan at Kilmarnock, sign on at Ibrox, he’ll be the club’s fourth pre-contract signing of the summer.
Rangers have already completed the pre-contract signings of Jordan Jones, Jake Hastie and Steven Davis as Steven Gerrard looks to build a squad capable of an assault on the Scottish Premiership next season.
