David French served as the Chief Commercial Officer at Rangers for three months, joining at the start of 2026.

The decision to hire French was made in December, with him assuming his role in January.

The former CEO of the Aviva Stadium in Dublin filled the seat that was left vacant following Sean Jefferson’s interim spell.

David French confirms on LinkedIn that he has left Rangers

French, who was responsible for all the commercial matters at Rangers, took to LinkedIn to confirm he had left the club.

In the “experience” section of his profile, his stint at the Light Blues is from January to March 2026.

Reports had claimed that he had parted ways with the club, and he himself has gone on to update his job history.

Had he still been at Rangers, it would not have mentioned an end date, but this confirms that he only held his role for three months and is no longer associated with the Ibrox outfit.

Prior to his move to Glasgow, French boasted stints at Nokia, Manchester United and the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai.

How Rangers plan to replace French

French held an important position at Rangers as he oversaw the commercial operations, which is the bread and butter of every football club.

According to Chris Jack, Fraser Thornton will now be overseeing the role in the interim.

Andrew Cavenagh is considering his options as to what the best way to shape the executive team will be, so he has asked Thornton to fill in while a decision is made.

Cavenagh already decided that nobody will be replacing Kevin Thelwell, but his stance on French’s replacement is not understood to be the same.

Jim Gillespie has started working as the CEO and will be working with Thornton, as Cavenagh is set to play a more hands-on role.

Stig Inge Bjornebye will be at Rangers for the summer transfer window and beyond it as well and he will be helping in making decisions behind the scenes.

It will soon be a year since the owners have taken over the reins at Ibrox and they have already overhauled the structure.
