It’s rare that controversial pundit Michael Stewart has something nice to say about Rangers, but he’s had plenty to say on the club’s midfield and in particular Ryan Jack this week.
Writing for the Scottish Sun, we’ve already heard how Stewart breaks from his trend of heavy Rangers criticism to praise Ryan Jack, Steven Davis and Glen Kamara.
But in doing so, Stewart also suggests that Steve Clarke should be utilising Ryan Jack for Scotland – just not as a midfielder.

“Now the next step for him [Jack] is displaying the same kind of fine form for his country as he does for his club,” said Stewart.
“But that’s where Jack might actually have to show a little patience. We’re well-stocked in that area.
“Now I suspect that might still happen — just NOT where Jack is accustomed to playing.
“In Jack’s case there may well be an argument for playing him for Scotland at right-back.
“We know it’s a position he can play — he has done so on many occasions for Gers and the Dons.
“It’s also an area where we don’t have a lot of options right now. So I don’t think it’s a bad idea.”
Besides from the fact it’s difficult to recall Jack ever having played at right-back for Rangers – once let alone on those “many occasions” – this isn’t actually a bad idea.
Jack certainly played at right-back for Aberdeen and is a player with a good attitude who would relish such a challenge.

Even if Rangers fans often joke about Jack pulling out of the squad, playing for your country is an immense experience for any player.
Has Michael Stewart actually made a solid suggestion which could fit the on-form Rangers midfielder into the international side?
