Rangers predicted XI v Progres Niederkorn – 3 remain from 2017 defeat

After Rangers were humiliated against Luxembourg outfit Progres Niederkorn in 2017, it was a defeat that many believed would linger long in the memory.
But between tonight and next week, Rangers have a real chance to avenge the demons of that Pedro Caixinha inspired nightmare.
Four players – Wes Foderingham, James Tavernier, Ryan Jack and Alfredo Morelos – know all too well how disastrous the fall-out of the 2-1 aggregate defeat two seasons ago was.

Excusing the low-standard of opposition, it was also Rangers’ first excursion into Europe since the Ibrox side played Maribor in the Playoff round of the Europa League in 2011.
The stinging defeat inflicted painful scars on the Ibrox club and the Rangers faithful, and the tie tonight is a real chance to avenge the hurt of two years ago.
Whilst Rangers have a strong squad and the season is still young, it may be difficult to pick Steven Gerrard’s best XI. But there’s no doubt he’s going to select close to it for the Ibrox leg.

The Gers gaffer himself has spoken about the need to banish those demons despite not being involved in the humiliating defeat.

For that reason, here’s the XI that we predict Steven Gerrard will put out to maul the European minnows.
Tickets are still available for tonight’s match with Progres, whilst Rangers are also showing the match live on RangersTV.
