Rangers fans have received a significant European boost with the news that the second leg of the club’s Europa League QR2 tie with Progres Niederkorn will be televised.
Broadcaster Premier Sports announced that they’ll be showing the Luxembourg leg (01/08) as Rangers look to exact revenge against the European minnows.
The first leg of the tie is set to take place on Thursday 25th July, with Rangers fans excited at the prospect of getting Progres back for the events of 2017.
Pedro Caixinha took a 1-0 lead to Luxembourg City as Rangers returned to Europe for the first time since the club’s financial implosion in 2012.
With fans expecting the Ibrox side to turn the part-time outfit aside in the second leg, Rangers fell to the worst defeat in the club’s history.
It all ended with the iconic image of Pedro Caixinha arguing with fans in a bush. It wasn’t pretty, and we’ve still not lived it down.
But now, we’ve got the chance to exact revenge on the part-timers in what will be a result symbolic of our Progres should it go our way.
Whilst fans will be hoping the match is out of sight after Thursday’s first leg, Rangers will still want to make a statement in the Stade Josy Barthel.
And now those who won’t make the trip to central Europe will be able to watch the match live at home.
It’s not the first Europa League away day Premier Sports have covered of Rangers’ this season. The broadcaster also screened the away leg in Gibraltar against St. Joseph’s in QR1.
