Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland continues to light up the Scottish Premiership but Rangers may well rue not taking a plunge on the striker after a deadly double v Hibs.
The Scotland international forward, 27, scored twice for the Jambos in the first half as they brutalised their Edinburgh rivals in a 3-0 Tynecastle victory over the weekend.
Stephen Humphrys rounded off the scoring in the final minute for Hearts as they maintain their status as Scottish football’s third force.
But so much of the club’s form this season has been down to the rampant Lawrence Shankland, who has 15 goals in the Scottish Premiership for Hearts alone.
Add to that two in the Europa Conference League and one in Europa League Qualifying and suddenly the striker is only two shy of hitting 20 for a lesser team in the division.
It’s an impressive return for Lawrence Shankland ever since he joined Hearts from Beerschot in the summer.
Rangers-linked Lawrence Shankland on fine Hearts form
Rangers have been routinely linked with a move for Shankland throughout his career and there was much talk of an Ibrox move during the player’s time at Ayr United and Dundee United.
However, a switch to Ibrox never materialised and after a disappointing stint in the Premiership with the Arabs that spell in Belgium followed.

Following Beerschot’s relegation, Lawrence Shankland is back in Scotland with Hearts and has found a home where his relentless goalscoring record is finally being showcased at the top level in the country.
Named the Hearts captain in the absence of Craig Gordon, it’s a sign of the trust in the player at Tynecastle and something tells us if Shankland continues to find the back of the net those links to Rangers might just reignite.
Meanwhile, Rangers seemingly want to confirm at least two new arrivals in this window.
