Rangers may ‘add another’ as Sky Sports News provide Ibrox transfer update amid late winger bid

Rangers head into the closing hours of the transfer window knowing that Philippe Clement won’t be happy if things stay the same.

With a patchwork squad, the manager secured top eight in the Europa League and deserves a bit of help from the board.

Nils Koppen has also done well by moving Kieran Dowell and Rabbi Matondo out the door too, and this should free up money for Rangers to strengthen, with Sky Sports News reporting that there could be another new arrival at Ibrox

Sky Sports News provide Rangers transfer update

Deadline day might not be as busy as in previous years or have a high profile name like Aaron Ramsey, however, it has started promisingly with a late bid for Yorbe Vertessen suggesting that the technical director isn’t done yet.

Speaking on SSN, Scottish football correspondent Gordon Duncan, has some encouraging words for Rangers fans:

“Rangers is going to be interesting. Patrick Stewart, the new CEO, said ‘one, maybe two in’, they’ve already brought Rafael Fernandes, but they’ve perhaps brought more money in after their success in the Europa League so, they may add another.”

Clement expects Rangers to strengthen

Clement spoke after the win over Ross County and suggested that the recent departures will have a bigger say on potential incomings than the Europa League heroics:

“You never know. But if that’s the case, you need to be replaced by at least the same level. That’s what we agreed. So, you never know if something crazy comes, but then there needs to be a replacement. So, then it needs to go really fast.”

A midfielder and a winger is a must, Fernandes will provide useful cover in defence, but his signing looks like more of a “try before you buy” type of deal for next season.

Vertessen is a positive link, and it suggests that it could be another long day, as long as we don’t see a repeat of the Samuel Edozie fiasco.
