Rangers technical director Mark Allen has opened up about Rangers signing ambitions, saying the club are looking to “put the icing” on the cake.
Referring to the fact Rangers have largely got a strong squad it’s about keeping it together and beefing it up with quality. His statements reiterate those of Gers boss Steven Gerrard [Rangers.co.uk].
And whilst Rangers are eyeing improvements all over the pitch, there’s one position that Allen specifically mentioned in an interview with Rangers TV.

“I don’t think it’s a secret to say we are looking at somebody in that attacking midfield area that can bring us a little bit of joy towards the top end of the pitch,” said Allen.
“We’ve been quite strict on this. Steven and I use the analogy of making a cake. We’ve made the cake, the cake looks really nice and we need to put the icing on it now.
“The analogy we’re trying to look at now is about trying to add quality to the starting eleven.

“You need a strong squad, but you also need a starting eleven that gives you that opportunity and that takes that quality to a level that we know is going to be needed to be successful.”

Rangers have lacked that creative, goalscoring spark from an attacking midfielder all season. It’s a position that Allen’s statements suggest Rangers are ready to invest in.
The club have already signed Jordan Jones,
Jake Hastie and Steven Davis as we look forward to next season.
And Allen’s comments suggest there’s going to be more to come before the window closes.
