Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is set to meet with club chairman Dave King to speak about finances and transfers for the upcoming season.
The Rangers boss also revealed that the pair haven’t discussed his first year as Rangers boss and the progress the club has made. But Gerrard is sure they’ll get the chance when they sit down together in the coming weeks.
“We haven’t really discussed it over the phone in terms of my stuff and how I’m doing,” said Gerrard, as quoted by The Scotsman.

“But I’m sure that will be on the agenda when we do sit down. I’m sure Dave will give me his honest assessment and we will talk about moving forward. I’m looking forward to catching up.”
Rangers invested considerably in the playing squad last season. As they did the season before that.
Rangers must be shrewder with their investments
And whilst Pedro Caxinha’s tenure still hangs over the club, Gerrard’s investments have more or less proved to be sturdy and useful ones. It’s unarguable that the £5-7m investment in Croatian football hasn’t quite paid off. Yet at least.
That said, Rangers are undoubtedly stronger, but they now need to beef out with more quality. Hence the pre-contract signing of Jordan Jones and reported interest in Greg Stewart [originally Daily Record]. Rangers have a clear transfer strategy that revolves around value for money.
But that doesn’t mean the Rangers manager is afraid to ask Dave King to dip into his pockets going into next season. Gerrard will also be hoping King plans to use some of that money from the Europa League run to finance new deals.

“It’s about quality,” said Gerrard. “It’s not about adding players for the sake of it. We need to bring in a higher level of player, to give us more firepower and better numbers at the top end of the pitch
“There are challenges which come with doing that and one of those is obviously financial. We have to wait and see what is available.”
