Rangers-linked star breaks silence as question remains over Ibrox move

Rangers-linked former England international Jack Wilshere has revealed he has a few options regarding his next move after being released by West Ham.

Rangers were heavily linked for a move for the ex-Arsenal midfielder during the last international break with ex-England star Kevin Phillips claiming both parties were “deep in negotiations”.

But speaking to the press as he weighs up his next move, Wilshere was tight-lipped over any names as he claims the most important thing to him is actually playing football.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Wilshere revealed that he is “open to pretty much anything” but wants a move to a club where he feels “important”.

The 28-year-old midfielder also says he is considering something different from the Premier League.

“I’ve been speaking to my agent every couple of days,” said Wilshere.

“There’s been a few things that have come up and we’re still talking about it, but I’m not going to put a time on it because I want to make sure it’s right.

“La Liga, Italy or Germany would be a nice change for me. Not many English players have done it.

“I always watch La Liga, it was always something I thought about. I like the league, I think it’s more technical than the English game. I think it’s somewhere I could really show what I can do.

“I want to play for a club where I feel like I’m an important part of it.

“I just want to play games – I want to get back to playing 25-30 games a season when you can really get your confidence back and a smile on your face.

“Just playing football, what I used to do when I was a little bit younger. I still feel like I can do it and I want to prove everyone wrong.”

Also linked with a move to the MLS, Wilshere has also claimed that he’d be “open” to the notion of moving stateside should the opportunity present itself.

Rangers fans sent out a call to Wilshere after his contract was terminated at West Ham with the injury-ravaged player claiming it was down to game time and not his own fitness.

Reports then intensified after Italian journalist and dubious source Nicola Schira claimed Rangers were in advanced discussions.
