Heart & Hand have been told that English manager John Eustace is “not in the running” to take over at Rangers despite being sacked by Birmingham City.
According to the leading Rangers fan media, the club have moved to dispel links to the 43-year-old this week after the St Andrews side parted company with the manager.
With Wayne Rooney now seemingly set to takeover at Birmingham, John Eustace will not be coming to Rangers as the club’s hunt for a new manager goes on.
“Birmingham City have parted company with their manager John Eustace,” said host David Edgar on the platform’s Daily Update (10/10/23). “[They look likely to] employ Wayne Rooney as their new boss.
“That of course led to speculation that (John) Eustace – who had been mentioned for the Rangers job several weeks ago to be fair – would be in the running.
“But that is not the case, I am told that John Eustace will not be in the running for the Rangers job.
“So if you’ve put money on him I’m afraid I think it’s a losing bet, never say never of course but that’s what’s been coming from the club and they have been quite quick on this.”
John Eustace unlikely to be next Rangers manager
Rangers have been actively distancing the club from several big names in the next manager hunt and have done so again here with John Eustace.
The Ibrox side have previously used fan media and trusted journalists to knockback links to the likes of Frank Lampard and Scott Parker in the press.
But in doing so, Rangers have also appeared to validate others potential manager targets and for every John Eustace of Frank Lampard there is a Kevin Muscat or Philippe Clement.
As Rangers head into the final furlong of their managerial search, the club also appear to have fixed their gaze on one option in particular.
