Rangers-linked LAFC star Kwadwo Opoku has been confirmed at CF Montreal as the Ibrox side continue to negotiate over Jose Cifuentes.
Montreal have announced the rather interesting move for the 21-year-old Ghanaian attacker through their official channels as the MLS summer transfer window opens for business.
The deal to bring Kwadwo Opoku from the west coast of the USA to the east coast of Canada is somewhat complex in that LAFC have received $1.75m (£920k) in General Allocation Money (GAM) over two seasons for the sale of the winger. Read more on the official CF Montreal website.
GAM is money the MLS clubs can use to spend on transfer fees and wages in order to stay within the league’s complex salary cap rules.
Rangers were linked with a move for Kwadwo Opoku earlier in the summer amid strong links between the Ibrox club and LAFC teammate Jose Cifuentes.

Kwadwo Opoku moves elsewhere as Rangers close in on Cifuentes
Whilst a deal for Kwadwo Opoku – who was signed from the Attram De Visser Soccer Academy in 2021 – is now off the table at Ibrox, the links to Jose Cifuentes persist.
The latest suggests that Rangers are locked in negotiations with LAFC over Jose Cifuentes with everything seemingly all but agreed with regards personal terms for the midfielder.
Rangers will need to pay a fee to release Cifuentes from his LAFC contract as he enters the final six months of the deal with reports suggesting it’ll take up to £1.5m and a series of add-ons to strike a deal.
The MLS side also recalled Cifuentes for their recent El Tráfico derby defeat to LA Galaxy, the Ecuadorean coming off the bench in front of a record-breaking American crowd.

As for Kwadwo Opoku, perhaps Rangers fans will keep one eye on the career of the young attacker as he looks to continue his development on the other side of North America.
The Gers’ attacking attentions also seem to be elsewhere in this window with the likes of Abdallah Sima and Sam Lammers already signed, and strong links to Cyriel Dessers and Danilo persisting.
Meanwhile, there has also been a resurgence in reporting around Luis Palma but there is nothing to suggest the Ibrox side remain interested in the 23-year-old Honduran.
Kwadwo Opoku made 79 appearances in total for LAFC, scoring 13 goals, laying on nine assists and winning the MLS Cup in 2022.
