The latest Rangers injury news ahead of the Viaplay Cup Final against Aberdeen as manager Philippe Clement offers crushing Jose Cifuentes blow.
Aberdeen are the opponents for Sunday’s huge domestic cup final at Hampden. Rangers are looking to win the competition for the first time since 2011 when they beat Celtic in extra-time thanks to a Nikica Jelavic winner.
Rangers haven’t beaten Aberdeen at all this season, losing and drawing the last two meetings. But the players involved in last season’s Viaplay Cup semi-final against Aberdeen can take stock from that result, as Gers won 2-1 to reach the final.
Here is the injury situation facing Rangers as provided by Philippe Clement ahead of the clash in Mount Florida.
Todd Cantwell availability latest
Todd Cantwell missed Rangers’ Europa League triumph against Real Betis on Thursday due to a private matter.
But thankfully, the attacking midfielder looks set to return to the squad to face Aberdeen.
Clement said at his pre-match press conference today: “Todd Cantwell trained today so there is a chance he will be there tomorrow.”
Jose Cifuentes injury latest

Jose Cifuentes started the win in Seville but was substituted at half-time for Dujon Sterling.
Many assumed this was for tactical reasons given the Ecuadorian is suspended for the trip to Hampden and that it was a chance for Sterling to play in midfield in preparation for Aberdeen.
But Clement confirmed after the game it was a muscle injury, which the Rangers boss re-emphasised on Saturday.
Clement told the media: “Cifuentes is injured. We don’t know how long so we need to take a good look into that.”
Scott Wright injury latest
Scott Wright hasn’t kicked a ball for Rangers since November 5 against Hearts – a game he scored in – due to a muscular problem.
The winger has missed the last five Premiership games and three Europa League encounters but Clement provided a positive update on his situation.
The Rangers boss said: “Scott Wright will be in the selection, he is back.”
Leon King injury latest
Leon King made his first appearance of the season for Rangers in the 3-1 win over Dundee last weekend in what was a cameo at the end of the match.
It’s been a tough campaign for the 19-year-old but he will be available for the Viaplay Cup Final.
Clement said: “Leon King will be in the selection, so he is back.”
