Rangers star Kemar Roofe is reportedly likely to escape a ban for a poor tackle but Celtic striker Albian Ajeti has been hit with an SFA notice of complaint.

Roofe was only cautioned for a dangerous challenge on Murray Davidson in the first half of the Gers’ 1-0 win over St Johnstone at Ibrox on Wednesday night, but many Bears agreed with pundit claims that he should have received a red card.

There has been speculation that retrospective action could be taken against the 28-year-old, despite Saints boss Callum Davidson asserting that there was no malice in the challenge, but the Scottish Sun reports that a ban is unlikely.

Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos is currently serving a three-match suspension for violent conduct after an alleged stamp on Ryan Porteous of Hibernian last week, with his ban causing anger amongst supporters and prompting Steven Gerrard to call for consistency in terms of the disciplinary process.

Gers fans have pointed to a lack of charges brought against Celtic players in the past and brought attention to an apparent elbow by Hoops captain Scott Brown on Kilmarnock midfielder Aaron Tshibola at Rugby Park on Tuesday.

Brown won’t face any further action after a panel of former referees failed to come to a unanimous verdict but Celtic striker Albian Ajeti has been issued with a notice of complaint regarding an alleged act of simulation in the same game [Scottish Sun].

Ajeti threw himself to the ground in the Killie area and won a penalty on the hour mark despite there appearing to be no contact from keeper Colin Doyle’s challenge.

If Celtic accept the ban, Ajeti will miss his side’s upcoming matches against Motherwell and St Mirren.

Elsewhere in the midweek Premiership action, a Rangers loanee showed character to come back from an early disaster to win the Man of the Match award.
