Rangers loanee Stephen Kelly went from villain to hero very quickly with Ross County after he bounced back from early own goal to claim Man of the Match in their win over Hamilton.

Kelly disappointingly turned the ball into his own net around the 16th minute mark as a tame Hamilton cross came into the six-yard box.

BThat goal put Brian Rice’s side 1-0 up by Ross County would rally late on to steal some much-needed points in a relegation six-pointer.

John Hughes’ side would run out 2-1 winners courtesy of an equaliser from new signing Jordan White and a winner from striker Billy McKay.

Kelly, 20, has impressed on loan for struggling County this season and was awarded the Man of the Match award by BBC Sport.

The result puts County four points ahead of Hamilton in 11th with 23 whilst Brian Rice’s side have two games in hand and are currently sitting on 19.

This is Stephen Kelly’s first season in the Scottish topflight following a successful campaign with Ayr United last season and he’s certainly impressed with the Staggies.

So far this season Kelly has made 20 appearances for County, assisting two goals, but he is yet to score for the club.
