Rangers fans have long berated ex-players of the club for not standing up for the team, but today they praised Kris Boyd for comments made on Alfredo Morelos.

As the halftime analysis began on Sky Sports coverage of the Motherwell v Rangers match Fir Park [15/12/19], which Rangers eventually won 2-0, the broadcaster ran a snippet of Morelos apparently lashing out at a Motherwell player.

Stunned by the nothingness of the incident, Boyd suggested that no-one would be discussing the incident if it was anyone else but the Colombian.

Whilst the big striker fought Morelos’ corner after the first-half his comments after the match have also caught the eye of Rangers fans.

Morelos would go on to be sent off by referee Don Robertson for his celebrations after scoring the second goal in the 2-0 win.

Whilst Kris Boyd defended the Rangers striker in the first half, he suggested that the Colombian should celebrate with his own fans after scoring in the second.

Some fans have been quick to point out the hypocrisy in Boyd’s statements.

Boyd wasn’t the only one to pass comment on the Colombian striker’s red card.

Outspoken pundit Tam McManus came under fire for criticising the Colombian whilst Rangers fans have been outspoken about the decision.

In contrast, Steven Gerrard has said that Rangers have “no complaints” about the decision.
