Former Hibernian striker turned pundit Tam McManus is being called out by Rangers fans for his hypocritical comments on Gers striker Alfredo Morelos.

The outspoken pundit took to Twitter to berate Morelos for his celebrations in front of the Motherwell fans and justify the decision to red card the striker.

But previously, McManus had criticised any suggestion that Celtic captain Scott Brown should’ve been punished at all for doing the same thing against Rangers.

Naturally, the comments of Tam McManus have drawn the ire of Rangers fans who are frustrated with the blatant hypocrisy of the pundit’s comments.

The general feeling here is that while to the letter of the law Morelos deserved the second yellow, other players are regularly allowed to do the same.

Rangers fans have been outspoken about the incident since it happened.

The card was incredibly harsh and there’s a genuine feeling that had it been any other player then referee Don Robertson might’ve thought differently about the decision.

McManus has since responded to the criticism by claiming that Scott Brown signalled the gesture “to his own fans”. Seriously.

Everybody knew what Scott Brown was trying to do that day and it’s the exact same gesture as Morelos did against Motherwell and has done at Ibrox.

There is no doubt that Morelos’ celebration was running the risk of a yellow, but is it really that big a deal to call for consistency in decision making from Scottish referees?
