Rangers fans have been praising the Ibrox club for coming out on the front foot as the Gers deal with high-profile Covid-19 protocol breaches.
First-team stars Jordan Jones and George Edmundson were suspended by the club after they were in attendance at a party in Glasgow’s west end which was split up by the police.
Rangers earned the acclaim of the Scottish Government for their swift action as the duo worry about the club’s next move with Rangers fans left fuming.
The club were quick to release a statement condemning the pair and got out in front of the press with regards the incident to help lead the narrative.
Anticipating questions on the incident being aimed at Rangers boss Steven Gerrard at his next press conference, the club also interviewed the Ibrox boss themselves on the breaches.
It means Rangers can get Gerrard to respond to the situation, bring clarity to supporters and help control and contain the story from within Ibrox.
The Rangers boss can now refer journalists to his previous comments – where he said that the club want to “draw a line” under the incident – when asked ahead of the match with Benfica.
The Ibrox manager was also clear that he wants to shift the focus back onto the football as he revealed he would be consulting with Rangers captain James Tavernier over the situation.
