The Scottish Government have praised Rangers for their response to the Covid breaches of two of their first team players.
The Ibrox side suspended duo Jordan Jones and George Edmundson for attending a house party where at least 10 people were issued with fixed-penalty notices by the police.

Rangers have since launched a full investigation and made a defiant statement about the conduct of their players and what is expected at Ibrox.
“The Chairman Douglas Park, Ross Wilson, Steven Gerrard and I discussed this matter as soon as it was brought to our attention,” said managing director Stewart Robertson [Rangers].
“We are completely aligned in our action and the standards that are being set at Rangers.
“We will not tolerate behaviour that does not follow those standards and it is totally unacceptable for any of our players to be involved in anything that puts at risk the excellent protocols that have been put in place at Rangers.”
Rangers fans were left fuming after the Ibrox pair decided to break the player’s bubble to attend the party with their career’s now surely on the line at the club.
But whilst there may have been fears over the outcome of the situation given high profile Covid-19 breaches in Scottish football earlier in the season, the government have commended Rangers.
“The return to training and match protocols mandate strict adherence to all government guidance in place, including on gatherings and physical distancing,” reads a Scottish Government statement.
“Players maintain the sporting bubble by not compromising any of these things when away from the heavy regulated training or match environment, and we expect clubs and their staff and players to fulfil their responsibilities and apply all of these measures rigorously.

“We commend Rangers for taking such swift and decisive action in this instance, to protect the rest of their squad and wider public.”
Northern Irish international Jones, 27, and ex-Oldham defender Edmundson, 23, will now face a two-week spell in self-isolation as the investigation is carried out.
