A number of Rangers fans have praised Kevin Thomson for a tweet about his coaching career.

Former Gers midfielder Thomson went into coaching shortly after hanging up his boots in 2016 and after holding several roles within the Academy setup at Auchenhowie, he’s now thriving as manager of Kelty Hearts.

The Fife club are yet to lose a league match since the 37-year-old took over in the summer and currently sit ten points clear at the top of League Two.

Earlier this week, a cryptic tweet from Thomson led to speculation that he’d return to Ibrox as part of the new manager’s coaching staff, but he later clarified that the post was simply a throwback rather than a hint at an upcoming announcement.

Debate about whether or not he’d be a good fit as part of the first-team setup at Ibrox continued into Wednesday, though, and he responded to a fan on Twitter who suggested that Belgium coach Shaun Maloney would be a better fit given that Thomson is currently working in the lower leagues.

“And loving it ross, doing it the hard way!!!” wrote the Kelty boss. “Same as when I played, up against it but I will Graft.”

“13s 15s 18s b team, Kelty, my own academy, I’ve had nothing for nothing, let’s see where it takes us one day.”

Thomson’s determination and work ethic are admirable, while his efforts previously within the Rangers Academy and so far this season at New Central Park show that he’s also got a lot of potential.

His tweet went down very well with the fans who picked up on the exchange, with some even suggesting that he will one day land the top job at Ibrox.
