Former Rangers player and current Kelty Hearts manager Kevin Thomson has posted a cryptic tweet amid speculation that a new Gers boss and coaching staff will soon be announced.

Thomson won five trophies at Rangers between 2007 and 2010 and returned to the club as an Academy coach shortly after hanging up his boots in 2016.

He worked his way up to B team head coach but left Auchenhowie in May to take over from Barry Ferguson as manager of Kelty Hearts.

The 37-year-old is faring brilliantly in that role, with Kelty still unbeaten and ten points clear at the top of League Two.

However, there have been rumblings on social media that he could be part of the next coaching team at Ibrox and a cryptic tweet posted on Tuesday afternoon has done nothing to slow down those rumours.

The former tough-tackling midfielder posted an image of him in action for Rangers in the 2008 UEFA Cup Final and captioned it with handshake and football emojis.

Here’s a selection of reactions from supporters:

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Amoruso has named who he thinks is the ideal man to replace Gerrard.
