Rangers fans get their wish as ‘special’ B team talent trains with Ibrox first-team

Rangers fans have been urging Philippe Clement to look towards the club’s academy as the first-team stumble from disaster to disaster.

The Ibrox club as a whole have pledged to better expose their brightest talents to the rigours of top level football but as of yet it’s something of an empty promise.

Now, one young Rangers talent who has been stealing the headlines at B team level has been hailed by the youth side’s management.

And also feeling the benefit of being given the opportunity to train with the Rangers first-team at Auchenhowie.

’Special’ Findlay Curtis scores again for Rangers B

It comes after Findlay Curtis once again hit the back of the net in the Glasgow Cup against Clyde in a resounding 3-1 victory.

Rangers played out an impressive win over the League Two side courtesy of goals from Curtis, Paul Nsio and Archie Stevens.

Curtis got the scoring underway in the match, cutting inside from out left and firing the ball low past a hapless Clyde goalkeeper.

The strike comes amid calls from Rangers fans to see Curtis promoted to the first-team after netting over 50 goals for the club’s academy over the last two years.

Speaking after the game, Malky Thomson has hailed Findlay Curtis for what he describes as a ‘special’ goal.

The Rangers B team manager has been hailing Curtis for his ability ‘1v1’ and claims the 18-year-old just enjoys playing the beautiful game.

”Findlay (Curtis) scores again,” Malky Thomson told Rangers TV. “He’s just a player who just enjoys playing football.

”I think I said that in the last interview there and you can see him.

“You can see some of his movement and how he gets on the ball and how attack-minded he is.

”Especially in 1v1 situations he’ll go and dip the shoulder and I thought his goal was special also.”

Rangers talent feeling benefit of first-team training

Malky Thomson reckons the fact that Findlay Curtis has been training with the Rangers first-team has had a big impact on his performances.

New Rangers technical director Nils Koppen has pledged to improve the club’s academy and get more of our youngsters playing top level football.

Part of that is incorporating the young players into the Rangers first-team with Thomson hailing its impact on Curtis.

The Rangers youth coach has also singled out Rangers midfielder Paul Nsio for praise for his role in the victory over Clyde.

It comes after Nsio impressed a watching Philippe Clement with two assists in the 4-1 rout over Stenhousmuir last month.

”I think what’s helping him as well is that he’s regularly training with the first-team,” said Thomson.

”He’s getting round and getting in with the senior pros and he’s obviously picking up bits and bobs off them and the habits that have been created round there.

”I think it’s worth mentioning as well that Paul Nsio had an outstanding game tonight.

”I think his energy and his desire to get about the pitch whether it be in possession or out of possession was second to none.”
