Rangers fans’ efforts to get Mental as Anything’s 80s classic Live It Up top of the UK charts has gone global as Australian media pick up on the campaign.
The 80s band are from the land down under and after the Gers helped them chart a course to UK Top 40 success the story would eventually reach those shores.

The efforts of the Rangers support have shown up on breakfast TV in Australia whilst they have also been discussed in the country’s branch of the Daily Mail newspaper.

Live It Up did reach the top of the UK Top 40 thanks to streams and downloads from Rangers fans and it now has an outside chance of making Christmas number one.
The song rose to prominence in Rangers circles after club fans group the Union Bears used it as a soundtrack for a video goading Celtic rivals the Green Brigade.
Prior to October’s 2-0 victory over Celtic, our rivals had taken to the streets of Glasgow to paste a range of images depicting famous Old Firm goals scored by their side.
But after the Gers completely dominated our lacklustre opponents, the Union Bears took to the streets to paste an image of double scorer Connor Goldson celebrating over the top of them.
The song has since become the club’s anthem in the charge for 55 and supporters everywhere know by now its relevance to the Ibrox support.
But incredibly there is much disagreement amid the Rangers support about who started the song with numerous voices claiming they’re behind the charge for Christmas number one.
Naturally, many of the Ibrox support have found this hilarious as they buckle at arguments over who deserves the credit for the song taking off:

Whatever the case, fans will need to keep listening and keep downloading the song in the run up to Christmas if it is to secure top spot in honour of Rangers.
This year’s Christmas number one will be announced on Christmas day and Gers fans have previously thrown their support behind the campaign to get Live it Up top of the charts.
