Rangers have already added Lyall Cameron for next season but will need to do more business.
Cameron signed a pre-contract with Gers meaning he will leave Dundee to join up with his new teammates in the summer, the first addition ahead of next season.
The performances of this season, especially of late, and the gap that is still required to be closed on Celtic mean that there probably needs to be quite a few more.
Rangers will need to get rid of deadwood, and five players could be at the front of the queue for that, to clear the way for incomings.
There will likely be plenty targets from overseas but one thing fans would like to see, and Nils Koppen is on record promising, is a move towards signing more domestic players.
Andy Halliday has already told them one they should be targeting – and he happens to be a teammate of Cameron’s.

Rangers may need to move quickly on Josh Mulligan
Josh Mulligan is a right wing-back at Dundee who can also play in midfield and has been impressing this season.
Before Cameron’s pre-contract, Halliday urged Rangers to go out and get the pair of them on pre-contracts, branding Mulligan an “athletic monster”.
And if there is an interest from Ibrox, the club may need to act fast with other teams taking a look at the 22-year-old.
The Daily Record is reporting Hull City sent a scout to run the rule over Mulligan as the Dee drew with St Johnstone at the weekend.
The English Championship side had been alerted to his availability with his contract running out at the end of the season.
And they’re not the only ones, with divisional rivals West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers also said to be keeping tabs.
Dundee have an offer of fresh terms on the table for Mulligan but it has gone unsigned to date.
What Andy Halliday said about Mulligan
Speaking on Open Goal in January, Halliday said: “Pre contracts. Two players I would sign right now; Lyall Cameron and Josh Mulligan. Honestly, I would sign the two of them.
“Mulligan is an athletic monster, I am signing him. I am signing the two of them on pre-contracts.
“[Koppen] mentioned homegrown talent. See your Mulligans and Lyall Camerons, I’m not saying signing them is going to win Rangers the league.
“But see what [Luke] McCowan is doing for Celtic, get them two boys for proper squad depth, they will play games and do well for you.”
